Friend of mine has an inspiron 660 pre built system and started running into things he couldnt preformance issues so he decided he wanted to upgrade his GPU and RAM.

So the questions:
I have recently heard of some BIOS conflicts with modern cards on pre built machines, Do you think a GTX 950 will create more problems than its worth?

Looking at the specs we need to upgrade the PSU but is there standard sizing for PSUs? Mostly a will it fit question!

Rams not too pricey but it would help to know if we can upgrade buying a second stick of ram rather than replacing the old ram all together?

Finally I guess any suggestions of alternative options?

Current Specs:

OS: 64-bit Windows 8.1

Processor: Intel Core i5-3330

Motherboard:Unknown (Bios is A09)

Memory: 4GB RAM 1600Mhz Unknown brand

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 620

Hard Drive: Unknown

If you find the model # on a sticker on the case, which is usually standard with pre builts, you can find the motherboard on the manufacturers website. 99% of the times, it's not an issue though. I didn't have to flash BIOS to put in a R9 380, in old Jasmine 7778 motherboard. There are small versions of the GTX 950, so fitting it won't be a problem. Do you know what's the PSU that you're using right now? Chances are you don't have to replace it.

The only model number he can find is 660, And having a look on dells support site there is no mention of a specific motherboard, only that it has Intel B75 Express Chipset.
CPUz just gave him a "084J0R" motherboard.
Quick googling of that gave came up with issues with the 900 series, But no definitive solutions.
Main thought was secure boot with windows 8 but it seems that it didnt work here and they had to get a 750ti instead!

The PSU is only 300 watts and dosent seem to have a 6 pin connector. Which I think the 950 needs?
