Hi everyone,
I'm currently putting together a 2009 Mac Pro for online 4K editing. It's been flashed with 5,1 firmware, cpu's upgraded to x5690's, 64gb memory, and a nvidia titan X. However I was wondering what my best options are as far as storage is concerned. I was thinking 4 drives in raid 10, but not sure if I need a raid card or not. I could do 6 drives with 2 in the optical bays which should give me better performance, correct? What should my read/write be for no lag during edit? Any input would be great. Thanks.

FYI I plan on editing and grading a feature shot on a red.

Solution
online editing? you wont need speed since you will be limited by your internet speed. remember that 100mb/s internet is about 11MB/s real world speed, any single harddrive can handle that.

Sorry forgot to mention I have a owc blade ssd installed via pci, so my OS and apps are already booting from ssd. Not sure 2 drives in raid 0 would give the speed I need though to do online editing of 4K. I was thinking 4 drives in raid 10 or maybe even 6? Thoughts?
