Hello there,

For the past few weeks I've been pulling my hair out over this and wanted to hear from the experts!
So my computer has 1 SSD and 4 HDDs in it, the SSD (which contains my OP) runs just fine, one of the HDDs works fine. All the others pick and choose when to connect or don't connect at all.

I got it diagnosed and was told it is just a Harddrive issue being that 2 of them are faulty and I should just get a new one.
So I did, I installed it last night and everything was fine, transferred the data etc. Today, it decides to disconnect half way through a download and has refused to connect again through the day even after me checking and switching connections.

The computers been given new connections for each hard drive, which doesn't make a difference and the Hard drives them selves once connected run absolutely fine until they disconnect of course.

So is it a motherboard problem, a port problem, bios issue? I have no idea!

Any contribution would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Solved?:
Used different cables with new hard drive, no difference as its still not being picked up at all.
Switched ports to check if its a port problem, no they're fine and working hard drives were fine when changed to different ports.
Then tested each hard drive separately using a USB device that you slot your internal drives in to and its picked up as an external, all hard drives turned out to be functional. Though I was told one of these hard drives was faulty which seems to be correct as when connected internally, it would randomly decide to work or not, where as the others worked fine in it's place with it's cables.

More information I did not declare, my father and I played with the power cables in order to fit a new graphics card in a few months ago and this is when more hard drives were disconnecting so I've figured this, any hard drive power cable that is also a power cable for the graphics card(we cut cables and made new extensions to get more power flowing around) were randomly disconnecting due to not having enough power (Lower 2). But this upper 3 (2 HDD and 1 CD) were working fine as they all shared power from one cable. It's pretty confusing but once you got in front of your face it's straight forward.

Conclusion: Mr. I.T guy was correct in that one of my hard drives have failed me. The new hard drive I've bought has gone faulty over night as it's not being picked up internally(checking BIOS and Device manager), externally(using USB device) at all. Plus there is not enough power going around to support the extra hard drives. So the solution is to buy another large spaced hard drive, copy all data needed from existing hard drives over, replace all hard drives with the new one (given it will be very large) and use the cables that aren't connected to the graphics card.

I thought I'd post this in case anyone had a similar issue or is confused on how to test the hard drives. It's more simple than I thought as this was the first time I've had to do this myself!
