Xeon Compatibility with MOBO

I've searched on Ebay for some ES Xeons and I want to know if a E5-2690 v3 stepping 1 on CPU-Z is compatible with my MSI X99A SLI PLUS. Thanks in advance.

It will work just fine, you will have to use 2133MHz RAM with it, as the Xeon doesn't have support for XMP, to use faster RAM

Yeah I have 16GB of DDR4 2400MHZ. Can I downclock it to 2133MHZ to make them work ?

If you downclock it then you will be fine, though it depends on whether it runs at 2400MHz natively, if it does then you'll have to downclock it, but if it uses and XMP profile to run at 2400MHz then you won't have to do anything, it will run at 2133MHz by default.

Any opinions on the 2690 v3 ? Is there any other cpu better than that ? I want high clocks and many cores for gaming and encoding aswell as rendering.

That CPU will do just fine, seeing as if it has a good cooler it should spend most of the time using turbo and you will be getting probably 3GHz most of the time, which will do just fine for gaming and also rendering
