Hi all,

I've installed intel I5-6500 the wrong way on motherboard and bent pins on motherboard. My question is. Should i buy new CPU and motherboard ? Or there is chance that only motherboard is damaged. The CPU seems fine but i dont have how to test the CPU and I am affraid if i buy new motherboard and try to install the old CPU the right way if there is chance to damage the motherboard.

Thanks you.

I would still wait and try it with a new motherboard, it may be ok. There was likely some resistance when the cpu didn't line up correctly with the notches in the socket which is what bent up the corner on the cpu. Just make sure to line everything up, there are two notched out hollows on the cpu that match with two protrusions inside the socket. There's also an arrow on one corner of the cpu, make sure it lines up with the arrow on the cpu retention lid attached to the socket itself.
It's likely just the cpu socket on the motherboard was damaged. If it were me I would just buy a new motherboard and try the cpu out in it rather than buy both all over again when the cpu might be fine. The cpu shouldn't damage the new motherboard. I'm surprised you got the cpu to fit into the socket, they're slotted/keyed so the cpu will only fit one way when you clamp down the retention bracket over the cpu to lock it in place. The cpu doesn't appear bent or damaged in any way?

I don't how i got the cpu to fit into the socket, but it went easily without any resistance. Yea sorry, i didnt mention sooner, the CPU is little bit bent in the one corner but you have to look very close to see that one corner is little bit bent, this is the reason why i am affraid to install on the new motherboard. I've got idea to install the CPU on the old motherboard. Maybe it will fix the CPU but maybe it will make the things worse.
