iam having a problem with my desktop http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-3033457/desktop-turns-secs.html as you see in the link ,iam down to psu problem, motherboard prob,or cpu....i removed the cpu and cleaned it but i forgot i dont have thermal paste at the moment also i noticed what i think its a bent pin( i think) of the socket inside, the cpu itself seems fine ,so i want to know will it damage the cpu if i try to turn on the pc without themal paste for 10 sec to see if it boots up now

Solution
Yes it will. DO NOT EVER POWER UP ANY COMPUTER WITH A CPU THAT HAS NO THERMAL PASTE AND/OR HEATSINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably not, I would just lay a heatsink on it and apply a SMALL amount of pressure to it while you do the boot test. Leave it on for as little amount of time as possible. Do this at your own risk, I have done it before without issue several times. But running your cpu for even a short amount of time with no paste or heatsink is generally not recommended.
