Is DDR4 really that worth it?

Is it worth going DDR3 @1600MHz for DDR4 @2133 MHz, what are the differences pros and cons if there are any.
Thank you all in advance.

If you are going to upgrade just to get DDR4 it's not worth it.

If you are building new then DDR4 is worth it. In the future you'll have DDR4 which will be supported by current boards. Once the next gen AMD stuff is released later this year that supports DDR4, DDR3 will see a huge decline.

Price wise DDR4 is pretty much the same, speed wise it is faster so improves system performance slightly, so for a whole new system yes it's worth it.

If you currently have DDR3, and need to replace a part or repair and are on a limited budget, it's fine to get a current AMD system and maintain your DDR3. You can get quite a bit of system for little money compared to Skylake and not have to purchase new RAM.

To change the entire system, just to have DDR4? No.
Building a whole new system? Yes, DDR4 (probably)

Thanks for noting.

I am going for an Skylake + B150 motherboard build and was wondering if I should sell my current DDR3 and get a DDR4.

I would definitely choose DDR4 with a Skylake just to have the support. In 2 years time you'll want a motherboard that has DDR4 and not DDR3. Unless you are on a super tight budget then DDR3 is fine.

Also normally when getting rid of an old motherboard, the RAM goes with it so you need new RAM anyways. Unless your motherboard crapped out.
