Can I remove HDD with OS and install windows to SSD?

I have two HDD's in my PC right now. One has windows, and one is for games. My plan is to get a 500gb SSD and remove those two drives (power supply not big enough).

I'm worried that if I remove both of those drives and install the SDD, reboot and install windows from the CD, I will get some kind of bios error. Am I worrying for nothing? Is it okay to remove the OS drive before doing a clean install on the SSD?

Thanks,
Brandon

Not only is it acceptable, it is the preferred way. In my opinion, the SSD should be the only disk in the machine when you install the new OS. If your old OS disk is present when you install Windows to the SSD, your system will actually boot from the old hard drive and then switch control to the SSD.

Are you aware that you will have to re-install all software and games? Putting the old drive back into the system will not make them available in this new instance of the OS.
