CD key vs Steam gift

This might sound stupid but what is diffence between CD key and Steam gift?
I'm gonna buy H1z1 from Kinguin but there is 2 diffrent types (cd key and steam gift) and I wanna know what the diffrent is.

No real difference.
The key just needs to be copied and pasted into Steam and the gift is received via a trade offer you get from a bot.
I usually buy gifts, because they are cheaper most of the time. :p
