I am going to sell my CPU soon (Overclocked 4790k). Do i need to reset my overclock and do something else before I give it to the new owner?

And what should I do with the motherboard? Do I need to reset anything there? I am also selling the mobo.

Solution

Whatever you did to OC it, undo that.

Assuming you are selling the CPU and motherboard...set everything back to stock settings.

Do I need to reset the BIOS? Or just turn my clock speeds and multipliers back?

The CPU is overclocked by the motherboard, nothing ever changed inside the CPU so nothing to to do with it.
The motherboard overclock is based upon the CPU being present, putting another CPU into the motherboard will reset it to default settings.
Anyone who buys a Motherboard should do a reset, there should be a jumper on the motherboard that you cross over and then put back, it resets the motherboard.
