So I recently got a new MOBO and CPU, but before I got this new hardware my games would rarely freeze, almost never. But with my new hardware my games always freeze within like 20 mins of playing... and i have to do a hard reset every time because nothing is responsive.

System specs:
MSI 990FXA Gaming
AMD FX-9590
EVGA Geforce GTX 980
G.skill 8GB 1600mhz
Corsair HX750w

Solution
Use AMD Overdrive. It's 100% guaranteed to work well with accurate readings on an AMD CPU. Note that the temperature you see is not the actual temperature of the CPU in AMD Overdrive, instead it is how far the temperature is from the CPU throttling.

How is case airflow? Your motherboard VRMs need to stay cool also. If those get too hot it could cause freezes.

Alright ill get it, my case is a NZXT h440 with 6 fans moving air through the case, so I think I have sufficient airflow. Is there any way to see how hot the VRMs are getting? if so, whats a safe temperature for them to be at?
