Good morning,

Friday I had a computer brought to me with booting issues. The woman stated that the computer runs system restore at random times when she boots the PC. I checked everything and ran several tests. I shut down and rebooted the PC at least 10 times and everything was functioning normally. Today the same woman called me to her desk and said that the system restore was running again. What route should I take next?

Thanks for any help!

Honest answer, sit and watch what she does when using the system, if you can.
Remember half of the problems created are often not the computer it`s self, since it only does what it`s told to by the user of it.

Meaning if you could not create the symptoms the woman was talking about, the problem is not you, or the computer, but the person in question and how they are using the system.

Just a bit of food for thought there Elewis.

Doesn't add up. So it runs for her and only her?

Really depends on how much she uses it. You can always disable Windows System Restore. If she's running a backup via disk imaging or a snapshot tool then it might not make a difference. Likewise, you can always substitute WSR for a program like Comodo Time Machine or Rollback Rx.

Likewise, you can get her to show you. I think she may just be full of it, especially if you've tested this yourself.

My guess is this person is shutting down the PC via power button. Next time she boots it up and goes gets a coffee in the mean time it goes to this screen:

Only thing i can think of.

Just by nature of this problem hopefully time will tell what's happening if you have the patience.

Are you working in IT? Assuming by called you to her desk she's close. I would suggest if all your work PC's are identical, to swap the hdd into another machine if you have any spare or currently not used and then go from there.
