I am using an internal 250 GB Hard disk through external case. It was running fine but now i am not able to access it, as it is not getting detected but in the device manager it is showing online. It is not not showing any partition as an external drive. Is there any possibility that i can access my data from the Hard disk. I think Hardware is fine as it is running properly with little vibrations & sound. Please suggest if there is any possibility.

Hey there, Rahul.

Have you checked if the drive is recognized by Disk Management as well? Would you please be so kind as to post a screenshot from what you see there (you can use imgur.com to upload the image)? Here's how to access it: How to access Disk Management in Windows to manage hard drives.

Try the drive with a different USB cable (since you are using it with an external enclosure), to see if the same thing happens. While we're at it, go ahead and try it out with a different computer as well, either by connecting it with a different enclosure ro by going directly for a SATA connection.

If none of that helps, you could try accessing the drive via Ubuntu Live USB/DVD, to see if it's properly recognized and if you can get to your files. Another options would be to go for data recovery software as a possible solution: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html & http://pcsupport.about.com/od/filerecovery/tp/free-file-recovery-programs.htm.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.

Hi Boogieman
Thanks for your reply but this is not working for me and will try to access the drive via Ubuntu Live USB/DVD but the real problem my hard disk is not showing in my computer. I am sending you image so that you can easily understand what is the problem :
Disk Manager view : http://s31.postimg.org/9mzvhha8b/Disk_online_1.png
Right available option in disk manager : http://s31.postimg.org/f9w8eycqz/Disk_online.png

When i am using pandora recovery : http://s31.postimg.org/d3xc6pjwr/Pandora.png

I think you can help me better after see the real problem.

Thanks

I see, well, either way, I'd still recommend that you try the drive via a standard SATA connection to see if it's properly recognized. If it is, this would mean that the enclosure is at fault and that the HDD is fine. And on the plus side, if it's recognized you'd be able to recover the data without too much of a hassle and going through Ubuntu or a data recovery program.

Hi
Sorry I forgot to mention that my hard disk had 4 partitions. Now it is showing only one. I have tested my hard disk with another working enclosure but the problem remains the same. I trust now i have explained you everything and you can assume, what is the exact condition right now. Please suggest any other method and request you to tell me if my data is safe or not or I can recover it or not.
Thanks
