So i got centurylink a while back and they have "decent" *cough cough* internet (its not very viable). The router motem combo that I was given is the problem though. After about 24-30 hours of it being online it starts restricting ports and closing them even though I've manually opened them through the 192.168 settings. it will still surf the web but online gaming servers get blocked in the middle of ranked games and its starting to screw me over. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you able to check the date and time on your router? Make sure that the settings are for your time zone/geographic area.

I googled "VcAutoHunt Sucess". Please take a look at this link:

https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/3uijn2/internet_disconnects_every_20_mins/

There are other links as well.

For the moment see if you can tie the incidents to the logs in some manner. Capture a few more such incidents.

On this end, I am having some problems with a hijacked browser so my research abilities are limited.....

It's a PK5001Z

Centurylink just restarts it on their end asks if its working now then they call it good.

No. I play league of legends and its all server based not really client side based. On top of that this also happens with skype. It just sticks on connecting when I try to call people.

May be out of your control. Performance will be only as fast/good as the slowest link.

Be that your device, your network, or your ISP.

Monitor your logs for errors.

Hoiwever, I am wondering about the ports that are being restricted and closed.

See if you can document the times and circumstances when that happens. The objective being to identify some possible causes or sources.

So I was unable to find anything in the logs apparently they didn't save on restart however at the time it closed off i was in a curse voice call, watching a youtube video, and loading up into a game. Maybe it shuts them off when you take so much data?

Do not know if CenturyLink is imposing any limits or otherwise throttling your services. Or if your internet/network setup just cannot handle the load.

Here is the CenturyLink "manual" for your modem:

http://internethelp.centurylink.com/internethelp/modem-pk5001z-setup-basic.html

I do not see any tabs or selections that would lead to the logs (if any - no indications of there being logs). However I cannot see into all of the tabs.

Have you changed the admin login and passwords? Just to keep your network secure and keep others from stealing your services....

Keep looking about via the modem's tab. E.g., "Modem Status" - monitor that via a minimized window and check when things go bad.

Another thing to check is the splitter/filter. You should have a wire coming in somewhere to that device. The wire is split into two wires: one to the telephone and one to the modem/router. No at all uncommon for those wires to be cheap or otherwise sub-standard for the intended use. Likewise for the splitter itself. Check the connections and swap out any wires that are flimsy and/or have loose connectors. Loose either connector on the wire or loose connector into a port. Could be worth trying another splitter if you can get one via Century Link.

Just need to see if the problem "area" can be narrowed down. Cabling, splitter, modem/router, configuration, or PC....
