do u think an 390x will still max out games in the future or do u think I should flip my card and save for polaris ?

Solution
Polaris 10 will out perform R9 390X and have much better power efficiency and temperatures.
I'm expecting it to beat GTX 980, but I can't say for sure if it will be as powerful as 980 Ti.
It will however be significantly cheaper than 980 Ti.

The improved power efficiency and temperatures are probably the most important part as the R9 390X gets quite hot unless you have good cooling in your case.

R9 390X still easily maxes out games at 1080P and will continue to for a few years to come. It even handles 2560x1440 extremely well. Its just the high temperatures that annoy people.

I'm expecting the Nvidia Pascal GTX 980 successor to be slightly more powerful than Pascal 10, but also more expensive. However I think for a lot of people...

Unless you're aiming for 90FPS VR, 120FPS 1080P or 60FPS 2560x1440 resolution you don't need more power than a R9 390 or GTX 980 anyway.
