GPU not recognized in BIOS

Hi all,

First of all, I've searched thoroughly on this topic and found many answers; so far, I haven't been able to fix my issue. I've had a desktop computer I put together about a year ago. A couple weeks back my PC powered off on its own. When it came back on, my GPU - a Nvidia 780 (3gb) - no longer had any video signal and cannot be found in the Device Manager section in windows, nor does it show up anywhere in my BIOS screen. The GPU lights still work fine, and so does the fan.
Ever since, my PC never powers on immediately, but rather fails once or twice (turns on, then goes off after a few seconds) before booting correctly.

I would greatly appreciate any input on potential causes/solutions for this issue. Mostly I need to figure out if it can be fixed, and if not, which part(s) most likely need replacing. Thanks!

Possibilities I've considered so far (or combination thereof)
- PSU issue. The wattage (520) is just about the recommended lower limit for my build.
- Chipset driver issue. I have downloaded a new chipset driver for my mobo and saw no change
- Motherboard issue with the PCIE slots (one of the slots holds a significantly smaller wifi board, and that works fine on either slot)
- GPU driver issue
- GPU is bust

Things I've tried
- I've formatted all drives and reinstalled windows
- I tried installing GPU drives, but Nvidia software won't let me install the drives because it does not detect a compatible device
- I've updated my UEFI BIOS to the latest version. GPU is still not detected.
- I've set hidden devices to be displayed in Device Manager, but there's no device which could potentially be the GPU
- I've tried resitting the GPU in each of the two PCIE slots. Still no sign of it in the BIOS

My build
Asus Maximus Ranger VII
Intel i7-4790k @ 4.00 Ghz
KFA2 GTX 780
2x Kingston 8gb RAM
PSU: SilverStone NightJar 520w fanless
Windows 10

'' Ever since, my PC never powers on immediately, but rather fails once or twice (turns on, then goes off after a few seconds) before booting correctly. ''

with the card still in ? card may of just died if it does this with the card removed may aslo got something along with the card

only way to know is try another card and see what you get from it ? same thing ? maybe a board or psu issue ?

or try your card in another computer that's know to be working and a quality psu ? card work fine . your back to psu or board issue

you got to have some kind of process of elimination to help narrow things down

then you got win-10 that don't help either you can see all the display and NVidia issues with 10 just here at toms

good luck

Thanks for the reply. It's my first time seriously attempting to solve such an issue, but it makes a lot of sense that I'd have to test hardware to get closer to a solution. I might have to take my system to a repair shop because I have no access to other components or a system to try my GPU in.

why I was saying with this ''Ever since, my PC never powers on immediately, but rather fails once or twice (turns on, then goes off after a few seconds) before booting correctly. ''

is it doing that with the card removed and you using the onboard graphics ? or only when the card is in place ? to me if its doing that with out the card and using intel graphics it maybe in the board or psu , but....????
