Is there any advantages other than software rgb control to justify the price?
What size led strips does each come with?

The control over the HUE+ is far superior than the standard HUE.
If you only plan on using a solid color you will be fine with the HUE. If you want to have dynamic lighting, chasing, per LED control, or other nifty things (Sound etc) then the HUE+ is recommended.
The HUE is 2m, the HUE+ is 1.3m AFAIK.
