This is my fourth build or so and she is a beast - when she wants to be. When I boot, there's a ~50% chance I will get signal to my monitor. When she is eventually on, if I ever put her to sleep, when I wake her up, there is a 100% chance she won't send signal to the screen. When signal isn't being sent, two POST LEDs flick off on my mobo - Boot and VGA.
Any ideas?

The Build:
Sabertooth Z170 Mark 1
980 Ti
Intel i7 6700k
850 Watt Thermaltake Plat
Samsung 512GB M.2 SSD

What version of Bios are you running? There have been 7 different versions since the board was released most of which say 'improves system stability'. It is worth a shot, the other easy thing for you to test is to try removing the 980ti and running with integrated graphics.

If it works fine then at least you've narrowed down the problem.

Thanks for reply.
I tried your suggestion of just disabling C6 and C7 with no luck. Tried disabling all C's and that too did not work.
Any other ideas?

So frustrating to have to hard boot every time! I feel bad for her.

Er shoot I wish I did - they are all in machines that are being used and rather "tucked in" for lack of better term. Showman builds that would take hours to dissect and hook up. I'd be down, but do you think there is any other way to diagnose before I resort to that?
Thanks for reply.

You can check the 3.3, 5.0 and 12.0 voltages in your Bios perhaps, but even with these all in spec, you can still have an issue with the PSU. If any of these are out of spec, though, it may be a good indication that it is where your problem lies.

Hey, this worked. I was on 0910 or something super old and now I am at 12XX and it's working great. Thanks for fix.

**Edit**
Crap. Thought it fixed it, but it still likes to not send signal about 50% of the time when restarting/waking from sleep. This time, both the VGA and BOOT LED's were unlit on the POST state LED's on the Z170.

Someone mentioned the PSU being a potential problem - yet I can run a triple A title on max at 4k for a few hours, massive power draw, and everything is dandy. Wouldn't this be proof that the PSU is robust enough?

OH I'VE done it now. Tried updating to the newest BIOS version via EZ Update in Asus's AI Suite and she has gone full ret***. What steps should I take to revive from a bad BIOS update? Just getting black screen and the only lit mobo LED is PWR.
