CPU overclocked automatically?

Hey there, i've just recently upgraded my computers core components (today, actually), and for the CPU i got an AMD FX-6300 Black edition (unlocked). I had planned on OCing once i get around to getting a better cooling fan, or liquid cooling, but not anytime soon.

Issue is, as soon as i got everything installed and such, i downloaded CoreTemp, and it's showing my CPU jumping up to a frequency of 4.2GHz, when stock speed is supposed to be 3.5, and causes my CPU fan to go insane since the temps rise a good deal, as well. Is there a possibility that my CPU automatically overclocked itself, or maybe the motherboard drivers did? If so, how do i just set it to stay at stock speeds?

My systems specs are:

AMD FX-6300 Black
MSI 980A Krait edition mobo
Radeon R7 260X
8gb Kingston HyperX Fury 1600 MHz memory
550w CoolerMaster PSU (not exactly sure on the specifics, but easily checked)

Where at in the BIOS would it be? In the OC settings, obviously, but more specifically?

EDIT: Scratch that, i found it. Just took a little bit of digging. But thank you! Now i'm not constantly being annoyed by the fans spooling up and down all the time.
