What Monitor For PC Gaming?

I am building a gaming PC. I think I have all the parts picked out (includes a Gigabyte 980 Ti) , but don't know whether to get a 1080p monitor and push those high frames or go 1440p. I don't want to spend over $500 on a monitor. A 1080p g-sync monitor would be nice but my main concern with 1080p is just whether the resolution will be enough. 1440p would be awesome with the much better res, but I'm concerned about price and performance. A 980 Ti can handle games at 1440p now, but as graphics get better and better, I am afraid that it would begin to fall behind. Sli is always an option, but that's another $650. What are you opinions? BTW - If it's not clear already, I want to get a 144hz monitor) Thanks!

Funny, I think MSI makes the best GPUs, at least the best air coolers anyways.

I do have a monitor recommnedation.

I've got this monitor and it's served me pretty well: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824160226
But it's like out of stock in all the big stores, but I see on ebay at least: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/222078204069

If you have a 1440p g-sync monitor, you're gonna have to spend $500 though: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0149QBOF0/?tag=pcpapi-20

nice build, but I cant recommend a monitor....what I can strongly suggest is you get an EVGA 980 ti 6gb as EVGA is the worlds best manufacturer of NVidia cards, their warranties are awesome and their customer service is amazing

A 980ti will have an easier time getting to 144hz on 1080p than 1440p though, so you kind of lose the advantage of a higher refresh rate at that resolution unless you're playing a easy to run game like CSGO.
