H80i flashing red LED, cpu temp @ 90c

Turned on my PC tonight for first time in a couple days. Noticed it was louder than usual, then noticed the LED on my h80i was flashing red, normally it's blue. Checked cpu temp, all 4 cores of my 4770k over 90 degrees celsius. Obviously I turned off PC right away.

Tried several restarts, opened case up and checked connections, blasted my fans with some compressed air, still getting the red flashing and 90c cpu temp. I've had this h80i for about 2 years, never had an issue. Did my cooler just go bad overnight or is there some other fix to this?

It's probable that the cooler's pump might've given up the ghost or an air bubble might've found it's way into the pump chamber and has been lodged there since. You can perhaps unmount the entire cooler and with the pump block dangling from the radiator above so if you can hear a bubble or pocket air travel from the pump block to the radiator. It may also be a good idea to observe the state of your TIM between the pump block and the CPU IHS. Given the time frame it is possible that the pump has failed since the main point of concern with Corsair's AIO was the rate of failures and pretty much now you can see leaking coolers in their packaging or after installation.

You might also want to jumper your PSU (while all components are disconnected) to power up the cooler and see if you can hear the pump working it's magic(or that the impeller is at least audible in it's chamber). If you're within warranty period then I'd suggest you contact Corsair and inform them of the issue. If you're outside of it, then perhaps now is a good time to look around for a replacement. i have the same issues, the corsair led switches from WHITE to RED when cpu temperature reaches like over 55C degrees. Unfortunately i cant even fix it inside the Corsair Link software since it doesnt show my h80i even if the cable is connected via usb to the MB.

red light means pump is not working for some reason.

you could try to change to a different fan header on your motherboard and hope it's a fan header issue. I've had the red light when my tubing was too kinked. i straightened the tubes, jumped the PSU to power the pump and everything cleared.
