What is the correct syntax for reinstalation of WinXP c:\IBM_PRELOAD which remains unaccessable and I have no recovery program in the bios. there are files and dlls that I can see when I type C:DIR but XP will not let me access them.

Solution
Finally you get to the point in a roundabout way.
You need the drivers for your specific PC model is what I think you're trying to say.

You get those from the PC manufacturer's website, but you'll need to know the full model number of the PC.

IBM machine 8114FBU SN LKBHK51 ThinkCentre preloaded w/WIN XP HOME ED 2002
Pent(R)D CPU 2.8ghz 70.9 HDD CDRW and DVD and 1.44FDD(not using)

This machine was hijacked several years ago and has been in storage. I am trying to load the hidden rescue drive i.e c:\IBM_PRELOAD. I was able to verify its prescence with boot in safe mode, however I was still unable to execute the program. I disabled passwords in the BIOS. Any advice? I have managed to reload XP AND LOTUS software that came with the PC,

Yes I need drivers, the software for the cdrw , cd =dvd, sound card, ethernet are not in WINXP, but in ibm_preload.
IBMpreload was erased when I reinstalled WINXP for the 4th time...anyhow I do appreciate yout trying to help.
And since yesterday, I found backup on an external drive, so I will try that.

Thanks
