Should i upgrade my i3 3220?

should i upgrade my current i3 3220 to the i5 2400. i can get the i5 for about 60 usd from my friend who didn't used and still in the box. or should i invest more in the gpu or motherboard?

my current specs :
Intel Core i3 3220
8.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz
ECS H61H2-MV
1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 6870

Hello... Your MB can handle an i7 too. the 3000-4000 series CPU general performance is pretty similar... the 2000 series seem to be slightly Lower and hotter? http://www.cpubenchmark.net/common_cpus.html

Your single thread performance will be the same... and of course you will have twice the CPU wattage... BUT the Four physical cores is great... Depending on what you do, you might see a difference B )

so should i save up more to get the i7? and is my gpu ok? i'm not really a hardcore gamer so i also asked if the i5 is worth buying. thanks, new to this stuff

Hello... read edit above... My point is that a MB upgrade is not needed, you have higher performance CPU upgrades with it yet. B )

For $60 an i5 is a GOOD deal... and it will work with your MB... but you may or may not see/feel a performance change, depends on the Software use of the two extra cores. B /

In my opinion I would upgrade to the i5. But first which one is it? A sandy bridge i5 should be enough to handle a higher card.
