Going to build my first system. Will be used for video and image manipulation and some gaming. Want to be priced around $700 (plus monitor/keyboard). I will be buying a graphics card.

Since I don't need integrated graphics, should I buy a CPU without it?

Thanks

ah yeah i forgot your main thing is going to be video/image editing. A Xeon is a great choice for that, while still being ok for gaming :)

Eh that's debatable, you can get Xeon's for $250-$270 that are essentially i7's without a iGPU. Still though for his price point both of those options are out of the equation.

Thanks Dustin,

Should I consider a i5 6500? Also, is hyper threading important (not on the i5?) ?

Thanks Dustin,

I think I decided to go crazy, and go with the Xeon E3-1231 which doesn't include integrated graphics.

If you think a big mistake, please say so. If you think okay but not 100% what you would do, please something like "good choice, hope you will be happy". :) I am finding I can second guess myself to death, and need to go forward!
