hello

im running a i7 4790k on a hyper 212 evo and it get 70 while gaming and after 1 second idle its down to 40 again should i delid it sent it to rma or just leave it like this? BTW i am running it stock in a case with a lot of airflow

Thx

Solution
The temp is normal. i get up to 75c on my 4790 when i play games or sometimes even 77 once in a while..and i also have the evo

no worries. your temps are good

the temps are normal. it is fine as it is. that's a Haswell chip and is within the normal operating range, as haswells tend to heat up. 70C while gaming is actually very good for a haswell chip. don't delid or RMA it.

okay well, there are a few things Id suggest.

First make sure the fan is facing the right direction, it sounds foolish by my 212 came with the fan mounted backwards.

Second confirm there is no warble as in the 212 is pinned down correctly no loose corners.

The temps you are experiencing are not normal with that cooler. It will not harm your cpu but the load temps should not get that high, you may want to remove the cooler, confirm the past is spread correctly if you have applied your own, otherwise do you have any case fans? its a hard to cool a cpu with warm air

The cooler is al the way down and thermal paste (silver 5) is over the whole cpu i and i have 3 intake 120mm fans running at 900 rpm and 3 exuist fans running at 1000rpm

but at idle its cool but one core is under load 71c and the rest 58

Queston.. have u ever owned a 4790 or the k edition? a lot of users post about this same temp results on their 4790/k and all the experts.. including me KNOWS its normal because haswell is a very HOT chip and the 212 is no watercooling..

its entirely normal ..

going down to 40c in 1 second after playing games is not bad at all.

dont misguide him to make worthless adjustments and waste his time

all do respect

No im afraid that simply isn't normal, temps up to 76 would be normal with the stock cooler, but I have to say with certainty those temps are not normal while using that cooler. Depending on airflow in the case, those temps would be good/typical of 4.5Ghz not stock speeds

Dude.. 76c while GAMING on haswell with and 212 is NOT bad.. do u know what games he is running?

do u know what settings he's playing games on that will cause him to reach this temp?

its not bad this is very normal.. there were people who posted here with 83c on their 4790k after gaming on stock..

this isnt bad this is normal and you don't even know his ambient temperature home.. this is not bad..

you probably used to seeing lower temps because you do not own haswell.

do some research on on 4790k temps while gaming and you will see

load without overclock with that cooler at stock speeds should not get that high, there is an airflow issue or worse, i mean no harm will come but the performance of that cooler is sorely lacking, That cooler can cool a 125 watt chip overclocked by 50% and keep it around those temps with a much higher vcore. What we have here is an issue that needs to be looked at... not it's fine.

DUUUDEEE

all chips dont carry out the same temperature..

if i have an fx amd chip and i get 68c while gaming do not mean i will get 68c on a haswell with the same cooler..

the temps all come down to the game you are running, the setting the game is running on for example: ultra, high, etc.

you think you know but you don't .. i know my chip.. i did alot of research before i bought my chip. so i knew what i were getting with my evo and haswell 4790.. and it is just what they said in reviews etc

80c and above is considered dangerious on an haswell chip

Hey guy, not all chips..... yeah coolers are rated in wattage for a reason, you are plain old wrong, unless there is an epidemic of people out there who have poor case circulation.

what you are doing wrong is putting all the blame into the pc and not the surroundings.

you really really have to consider ambient temps before you judge whether your cpu fan, vents etc is good.

if i live in a really really hot place and have a lot of fans i will still get hot air in my machine because all the fans will only blow in hot air.

75c on an haswell using an evo is not bad at all.. ive seen people with up to 80c playing games.

it all come down to what you are running.

he might probably get a lower temperature if he is playing a game that doesnt demand much cpu processing.. thats facts

etc when im playing dark souls 3 on ultra outputting on a 1440p monitor i get 68c max

but when i play dragon age inquisition i can get up 78c,

and visually dark souls looks better than dragon age graphics wise. note that dragon age has a bigger landscape so their will be more processing needed in that particular game

sometimes games will put more stain on the gpu than cpu and others put more strain on cpu than gpu.
