Hi I am currently researching for my new pc build in June. I have most of the stuff down and I am looking for some suggestions surrounding the monitor and gpu. I would like to go 1440p with 144hz G sync or freesync. What are your personal opinions on nvidia and amd? What about buying a cheap gpu and wait for pascal/polaris?
I currently only own a smartphone so really excited about this.

Here is a link for my builds on pcpartpicker.com but keep in mind that I live in Denmark and not the US so price and product availability is different.

Looking forward to see your opinions.

Agree with this apart from the last I read Polaris might not be here until Q3 or Q4 this year. Could be wrong though as there is lots of speculation at the moment

I agree with waiting a little while to see what shakes out from AMD. With new hardware usually comes price drops on the old stuff.

That said their initial releases may be budget cards or obscene monsters like the $1200 Titan. Not mid range or upper end cards that CSG implies. I don't know that I would expect them to have released anything by June either. I think AMDs official statement was "summer" and Nvidia has only announced the availability of their compute pascal chips with consumer stuff ***speculated*** to come late this year or early next year.

What's your budget? To effectively drive a 1440p at high speed you would need something in the 390X class of cards. I would lean towards getting a freesync monitor because then you can get a stronger GPU with the money you saved on not paying nV premium for Gsync.

I have a new job so I will have a large budget and I want to get the best experience. I was thinking of using the Intergrated gpu but only for weeks and not months. I thought about getting the best monitor since it will last a while. I can get the 980ti and it will probably last couple of years at 1440p right?
