Okay, so my laptop isn't picking up any sort of wireless signal whatsoever. It's not in airplane mode at all. The only way the internet will work is with an Ethernet cable, and the wireless didn't stop working until a couple of days ago. My other devices aren't having any issues either.

Okay - good. You are in the right place.

------

But first: did you run the Troubleshooter via the wireless screen icon (via a right click)? Just read back and realized that you had not mentioned doing so and I did not suggest it either. You do have the Troubleshoot Problems option if you have not already run that.

Back to Event Viewer:

One the left side where you see the ">" pointing to folders, click the folders to open the subfolder contained therein.

Start looking through the various folders - Windows Log > System is a good place to start. It may take your system a few seconds to present the log entries if there are lots of entries to present.

Your goal is to find entries with errors or warnings that are network...

No error messages or warnings?

Check that your laptop has not "powered off" the wireless card to save power.

Doublecheck the wireless adapter card's configuration - maybe some issue or update defaulted the settings away from your network's requirements.

Try reinstalling the drivers for your wireless card. Download from the manufacturer's website.

I don't know how to check that. I have an Acer Aspire V Nitro that runs Windows 8.

Start with Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.

This link will get you into the Event Viewer to look for errors (red circles with white "x's"):

Hopefully you will find some error code or warning - please post.

So the event viewer I have looks entirely different. I also can't find anything that looks remotely close to an error that I may be looking for.

Your goal is to find entries with errors or warnings that are network and/or wireless related. Especially errors that started just before or at the time you lost wireless connectivity.

You can right click any given entry and select Event Properties for more details.

Take a look and see what you find.
