Hello,

Currently I use the aforementioned CPU with a 4GB GPU and whilst they certainly aren't bad together, the CPU is getting a little ... Warm ... (it'll melt the sun).

Current setup:

Motherboard Asrock FM2A75M-DGS
GPU GeForce GTX 770 4GB
CPU AMD X4 750K (4.1GHz)

This has been sufficient for the backup PC, but now I will be relying more on that, I want to put some pennies into the CPU.

£80 budget, please don't feel obliged to offer advice no CPUs past this amount, because I have bills to pay alongside enjoying computer games.

As a guide on my performance at the moment, these games run on max settings:
Arma 3 @ 30-40 FPS
Eve Online @ 60 FPS (100+ if not limited lol)
RoboCraft @ 80+ FPS
Planetside 2 @ 50+ FPS
Heaven Unidine Benchmark produces a score of 1400 or 2400 IIRC.

The biggest problem really is the heat. I've got a new fan that I'll install over the next few days, but will likely still want to upgrade as tests show the CPU running at 70% or higher with load spikes occasionally causing FPS lag momentarily - mostly in Planetside.

I know I could turn down graphic settings, which I may do pending the new fan's temperature regulation :)

I will also be getting an extra exhaust fan, as the case does get warm near the GPU.

Any and all useful comments welcome! No doubt I'll have a few comments to read in the morning with my breakfast.

First post, first hello to the community,

Cheers :)

PS. Forgot to post this earlier and now it's still on here - I just intalled the new fan and I am 100% certain everything is wired up as before, but I have no display. GPU is powering up, but I have no USB power either. Any advice here would be welcome!!

Good night.

You can get a very slightly faster CPU, but FM2+ doesn't really have any relevant upgrades for you. Sadly, no AMD CPU will be an upgrade. An Intel CPU would perform far better in the games you listed (with cores that are 50-75% faster), while putting out a fraction of the heat, and have an upgrade path, but you'd have to change motherboards and probably get a new copy of Windows, which is not within your budget.

My advice: Don't put any more money into that system. Start saving, because when you want a significant upgrade, you're going to need to replace motherboard, RAM, and operating system, in addition to the CPU.

How do you know it is warm? Being "warm" isn't an issue, the real issue is overheating. Unless it is over the max safe temp of 74c, then it is a non-issue.

Arma is known to suffer on AMD CPUs. The rest of the games look find. I don't see an issue in performance. There is no upgrade for £80. Get a cryorig h7 if you're concerned about CPU temp.
