I haven't found anything else relevant in the forum, and I'm stumped.
I'm building a new computer for a friend - only the second time I've done it, so I'm not super-savvy. It starts up no problem, I can access the BIOS menu. It recognizes the Windows disk when it's in the drive and looks like it should when it's beginning the installation procedure...but before I get to the actual installation screen, where I can choose the language and format the hard drive and all that, I get the blue screen of death. I'd post the error code, but there are several - it's a different one each time. Occasionally, it will just freeze instead of going to blue.
I've tried two different hard drives, two different CD/DVD drives, and two different OSs (Windows 7 and Windows 8...I've even tried both 64 and 32 bit versions), and no combination of these will work - it's the same result each time. Not sure what to try next.
