Just did a fresh install and EVERYTHING Windows-related is getting stuck on 'checking for updates'

Alright so I just did a fresh install of Windows 7 on my PC, and after installing all my drivers and stuff I tried to start yupdating my Windows 7 to the current updates.

After doing a 'check for updates' it has just been sitting on 'checking for updates' for hours now.

I've tried upgrading to Windows 10 as well and am getting the same issues with that and it saying 'checking for updates too'

After some googling I found 'Windows Update Standalone Installer' and that is getting stuck on 'searching for updates on this computer'

I am about at my wits end with this situation and just want to get my computer updated to the proper updates.

Whether I upgrade to Windows 10, or just update to the newest Windows 7 updates, I don't care.. I just want my computer updated properly.

This is what I've been looking at for the past... 4 hours.

How long would you say I should wait before giving up? I'm going to leave it on overnight.

Days? Hours?

I've had machines take 8+ hours. It has to do with an inefficiency in the algorithm that's used to sort out and index the various permutations of updates available, updates already installed, updates superceded, installation order, etc. The more updates there are, the longer (expotentially) it takes.

Do you know how long it took for you? I'm coming close to 6 hours now. I am gonna leave it overnight but I'm kinda losing hope.

for real over like 10 hours man...

Just leave it alone. If you stop it before it completes you'll just have to start it over from the beginning. It takes as long as it needs to take, not one second less.
