Hi, yesterday I had came home and turned on my computer (custom built PC) to find that it was donig startup repair, I assume this was after installing and update (I have windows 7), once it restarted I logged into my user account and recieved errors everywhere, all my applications failed to launch, my antivirus was marked as off and nothing was working.

So I restarted my computer and tried to boot it in safe mode and failed. After this I restarted again and now it went into a black screen and seemed to be checking all the files, and it looked like it was repairing and deleting a lot of files. Once this was done I arrived again at the log in screen however I was able to log in but I got the message saying this was a temporary account and I should log off and on at a later time.

At this Point I ran a Quick virus scan (360 total security) and defragmented my hard drive which took a longer time than usual. Nothing conclusive came from doing either of these actions. I restarted the computer after this but now Immediatly after I type in my password to log into my user account I get logged out with no error message whatsoever.

So I restarted the computer and this time I was able to boot into safe mode on my account. Because this is my only admin account I made another one to test if I could log on at all. And sure enough after I restarted once again I was able to log into the new admin account but not my original user account.

I thought that this wasn't so much of a problem at first as I could just create a backup and move my files over to the new account. However it got even stranger. I tried to access the internet over my browser (first tried chrome) but discovered that I could access next to no sites getting the error "This page can't be displayed". I figured a reinstall of chrome might fix the problem so I uninstalled it.

I then tried to go to the chrome install page on internet Explorer but recieved the same error. I couldn't access any sites containing a secure Connection but regular http sites worked fine. Also when I tried to update my antivirus in the middle of the update I lose my Connection to the internet and the update fails.

I can get my connectivity back by troubleshooting but the problem stays. I thought this might be related to the update so I tried running the update truobleshooter and Everything has a green tick except for "Windows Update error 0.80080005(2016-04-20-T-01_05_06P).

Also almost everytime I shut down the computer windows begind to update saying 1 out of 24 and when I start it up again I get the startup repair menu (I don't know how relevant this is but my keyoboard and mouse somehow get disconnected within the startup repair so I can't click or press anything, plugging them in or out does not work either).

Anyway after this there is basically no change it just goes to the log in screen, is unable to log into my original user account, can't connect to secure sites or update antivirus, and proceeds to update sometimes when I shut it down. Anyway I am completely at a loss, please help.

Get a USB stick and download malwarebytes from here. https://www.malwarebytes.org/dl-confirm/ Do this on another laptop/PC that is working. Once that is done. Start up the problem PC in safemode and run malware bytes. Let us know what the situation is after this. I suspect you have some kind of Malware on your machine. So let's start by trying to remove it.

Depending on how badly infected it is you may be better off just nuking the machine and reinstalling windows from scratch. Have you backed up your data?
