Hi so I own MSI GAMING 5 and i ran 3x4.
I took one of the sticks out to give it to my friend.
When i booted up my PC, it loaded fine up until the windows logo, once past it, it just stays in blackscreen for 1-2 minutes, and finally brings me to windows. All the icons are missing and they eventually load. All my other apps that are in the task-bar, some load some don't. I run dual monitor setup and from once in a while, my wallpaper disappears on one/two of the monitors. Please help, I dont know if I messed up the directories or what no clue!!

I tried taking out CMOS battery and RAM but it didn't change anything. HELP!!

There are many potential problems here, so first check the following:

- perform memtest for at least 1 full run
- make sure the two remaining memory modules are in CORRECT slots. It matters. Refer to motherboard manual for details on which slots to use for dual channel operation.
- are the remaining two modules connected correctly and firmly in their slots? take both of them out and connect them again.
- double check all cabling on disks, motherboard and PSU - you could have easily disconnected something or made it loose without even knowing.
- make sure you are actually booting from a correct drive
- disable overclocking to increase stability and to determine whether it helps or not

As a last resort, try only 1 stick of memory and if...

As a last resort, try only 1 stick of memory and if that fails only the second one. Disconnect all non-essential hardware (like non-system disks, additional cards, etc.)
