Other than an operating system, what else do I need to have a working PC?

  • CPU Cooler?
Case fan, or is that coming with the case?
    Thermal Compound?
Some special tool which allows me to insert the CPU in the motherboard?
    Anything else?

Just youtube pc assembly and there are plenty of videos that will guide you step by step how to assemble your pc. Honestly it's really easy :D

Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oc0yMoNMwek

You don't have to test your motherboard and cpu outside of the case like they did so you can skip that step.. plug in your PSU cables once you mounted your motherbard insade the case with the parts on it.

Nothing, you just need operating system. Xeon is not clockable to it will run fine with stock cooler that you get with it. Thermal compount is already installed on the heatsink, change it after 1-2 years or when you notice your cpu runs much hotter than usual. Case comes with 1 front vent, so you want to buy 1 more that you will put on the back 120mm If you want you can even buy 3 so you put 2 on front as intake, then one on back of the case and on top as exhaust all of them should be 120mm

  • ■The monitor has built-in speakers so you'll have sound when you first assemble it but you'll want to get a decent set of speakers soon.
■No, you don't need thermal paste. Already on the heatsink with plastic covering protecting it. Don't forget to remove the plastic before mounting.
■You have 3 SATA devices. Motherboard comes with 2 SATA cables (black color probably). Check if any of the 3 devices come with a cable. If not you'll need to order one. 18-24 inches should do the job.

Yea, i thought about the speakers, but it will be my daughter's PC, and she can buy them later.

As far as the SATA cable goes, something like this:

Yeah that cable should be fine. These are the things people don't think of sometimes when building. Good thing you asked or you'd have come up short a cable to finish your build.

I see some very obvious plastic covering it which would prevent installing the fan. Is this what you are referring to or something else?
