Hello folks, my old Nvidia GTX 560 have gone to the heaven this week and after searching and restraining all my options I came with these two cards:

Nvidia GigaByte GTX 960 G1 Gaming 4G Rev 1.1

http://br.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5571#ov

Principal Specs:

Boost:1329 MHz/ Base: 1266 MHz in OC Mode
Boost:1304 MHz/ Base: 1241 MHz in Gaming Mode
GDDR5 4G / 128 Bits

WindForce powered and Back Plate. Also uses 3 Coolers.

AND

Nvidia EVGA GTX 970 SC Gaming 4G

http://www.evga.com/products/Specs/GPU.aspx?pn=8296b494-5d1d-400d-b2e8-d00ccd71e088

Principal Specs:

Base Clock: 1165 MHZ
Boost Clock: 1317 MHz
GDDR5 4G / 256 Bits

No Back Plate and 2 Coolers.

Real Question:

There is kinda a minimal price difference between the EVGA 970 and GigaByte 960 G1 here on my country but every money that I spending on this counts.

Example: ( I gonna put using Brasil - Real currency only for ilustrate the difference )

GigaByte: R$ 1.269,99

EVGA: R$ 1.574,99

My doubts is: Is really worth it picking up the EVGA 970 instead of GigaByte 960 ( Is worth paying up a difference of R$ 305 for it ) ?

I hope the community give me some thoughts about what to do.

a 970 is a more powerful card I cant see the best 960 holding to a box stock 970 ?? i'll see if any bench mark site has a 960 out preforming a 970 but I don't see it as much I dislike any 970 bottom line is the 970 has a more powerful gpu

not even close

no point going with the lesser card for the same money [just seems foolish]

The performance is better even if the EVGA have less Base Clock than the GigaByte ?

The 970 is on a whole different level and, along with the R9 390, has the best price/performance ratio out there. If you can, go for the 970 and never look back.

yes its not the clocks involved on this it the GPU chip used [graphics processor ]

[NVIDIA GPU Specification Comparison]

''Starting off as always with the specs, it’s interesting to note just how very close GM206 comes to being half of a GM204. NVIDIA’s ‘6 parts being around half of a ‘4 is a common design goal for them, but in the last few generations it has never been quite so literal. GM206 and its GTX 960 launch partner feature half the shaders, half the memory bus, and half the ROPs, all at the same clockspeed. Since it is half of a GM204 though, this means that we’re looking at a fairly sizable gap between the GTX 960 and GTX 970; even with the latter’s disabled functional units, it’s still a much bigger, faster card than GTX 960, which reinforces the desired market segments for these cards

key wording

''GTX 970; even with the latter’s disabled functional units, it’s still a much bigger, faster card than GTX 960, ''

''I think you should wait for Pascal.''

no gurentee there going to be much better overall? all you got to go by is hype and rumor and look how much all that's changed lately on them and you know NVidia will price them just right once they feel yuour all hyped up to buy

You would be very correct if this were another 28nm process.
Just gettting the same performance for the same price but not dealing with heat and noise would be reason enough to wait a month.

how do you know ? read thid from another rumor mill ? until the card is truly released and say sitting at newegg for sale to you you don't know nothing ?

i'll bet they do just like they did the 970, and take a old 980 card and swap out the Maxwell chip for the pascal chip

''Furthermore, as we mentioned in our GTX 980 review, GTX 970 has been a pure virtual (no reference card) launch, which means all of NVIDIA’s partners are launching their custom cards right out of the gate. A lot of these have been recycled or otherwise only slightly modified GTX 700/600 series designs, owing to the fact that GM204’s memory bus has been held at 256-bits and its power requirements are so low.

that's what amounts to what your going to get at first [opinion]

''Rumor: Nvidia may have killed Maxwell production ahead of June Pascal launch''

yup take them Maxwell cards nd just covert them into pascals [more opinion]

that's now how it seems to work at NVidia these days

Ehat are you talking about? Maybe they'll have soime rebrands, but the whole point is both amd and nv are transitioning toward 14nm and 16nm respectively.

Brother, all i'm saying is one can wait and see for a month. Then make an informed decision. It doesn;t matter how it turns out.

would not supprise me if just like before NVidia puts off release for what ever reasons like ''production issues '' and delays and keep there hype up until just in time for X-mas black Friday sales when everybody is in cant wait mode and got all that X-mas money burning a hole in there pocket to grab one [chia ching $$$ ]

I'd be surprised if they did. They are in a rush to release before polaris.

i see hwat you mean, but goddamn, does that need to change!
no more 4 core i7s, ffs! :))))
