I plan on getting the r9 390 and I was wondering since I am not overclocking my CPU, is it even worth getting an Intel CPU that is costly or do I go with an AMD cpu which does not cost as much.

Intel is the better choice by far, but when you factor in the cost of the motherboard+cost of the cpu, and you dont have the money for it, getting a nice AM3+ Motherboard on the cheap, and an FX 9590 (4.7ghz-5.0ghz turbo) which is only 220$ (300-325 for cpu + motherboard)( 9590 or there is another one the 9370 or something like that that is only 169.99$ and has impressive speeds, you do end up with a pretty fast build for less money, if money is not a concern INTEL Cpu is the fastest, best single core performance, and also the best CPU for gaming, the i5 6600k is a very very good chip, and the i7 6700k is even better, you get what you pay for, or you can even go the cheaper route they have an FX 8300 on sale for 99.99$ which is only 3.3ghz-4.2ghz turbo, but i dont think it would bottleneck the 390 that much if at all with a nice overclock, the FX 8350/8370 is a lot better

it's all about you knowing if you can overclock the amd with proper cooling or not
to be honest the easier and more logical choice is going with intel for ddr4 and new tech with new mobos
but if you value the 8 cores then you go with amd if not get a skylane i5-7

the 9370/9570 Cpu's from AMD Come with an all-in-one water cooler setup, the downside is their TDP of 220 Watts which is a lot of watts! Intel is better, but AMD is cheaper...... the new GPU from AMD coming soon with 14NM architecture is very interesting, with the low TDP
