If i connect the computer straight to the wall port via ethernet, then the internet is working fine.

Also, if i do: wall port > switch > smart tv, the internet works fine too.

but if i do: wall port > switch (Netgear GS605) > computer and smart tv, SMART TV has internet access. on the computer it has internet access but says "unidentified network", thus no internet. sometimes there's yellow triangle with the exclamation point in it.
Lights on the smart tv connection are green and lit, but on the computer connection, its off.

so its just my computer having problems with the switch. my network adapter is
"Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller."

anyone know any solutions to this?

Does the wall port go to a generic consumer router, or is it direct to your ISP? If the latter, you need a router between the wall and devices if you want to use more than one device at a time.

yea, you basically only get allotted 1 public facing IP. Because the connecting device is a switch, it just passes traffic through as if it wasn't there essentially. So you end up requesting 2 public facing IP's, but are given only 1 so only 1 device gets online at a time.

You need a router, which gets the public facing IP, then creates its own internal network and assigns everything inside it a private IP.
