Nvidia 364.72 Drivers Causing Problems?

Ever since I updated to the 364.72 driver, I have been having occasional BSOD crashes. I found this at WCCF Tech: http://wccftech.com/nvidias-latest-game-ready-driver-allegedly-killing-gpus-plagued-issues/
Anybody else experiencing issues?

Solution
luckily personally i never did upgrade beyond 362,
heard plenty of people complain only after installing 364, (and i have read wcctech articles my self too), so im definitely starting to think there is some truth to it
as for the "bricks card" part, idono.. my brother strangely just had to swap his 770 to 970 after handing it to a shop for rma and them updating his drivers to 364.. weather or not it was teh drivers or the shop messed something else up i cant say,
but with all this stuff around, my advice has been for the past time "stay clear of 364 version drivers".. because .. better safe than sry.. why risk something when its not needed?

guess you could try ddu and revert to older version and see if that helps..

I used DDU from safe mode and installed the last 362 driver. If the issue goes away, I'll have to assume it was Nvidia's newest driver that was the culprit. WccTech is usually a pretty dependable site for this kind of information.

I purchased a GT 640 for a customer's system and installed the disc, but got the BSOD after re-boot, updated to 364.72 and it continued. I've wiped and restored Windows 7 twice now and still having issues getting the right driver to work. I've changed the BIOS settings to PEG/IGC and still have the issues. Any help would be appreciate!

Yeah, I'm back on Win7x64 now. So that may or may not be part of the reason I had the issue and you didn't. But so far, no issues with 362.00. It would have happened a couple times by now otherwise. This is the first problem I've ever had with an Nividia driver. First one I can remember even reading about, in fact.

Any chance the card is defective?
Try this... don't install the provided or downloaded driver. Let Win Update find the correct driver. It will be a couple versions back, but see if it works.

could try, i worry 2 things tho
1, is that its not "just" the drivers since you already reverted, ofc reverting again could be possible,
i used teh 358.50version for ages since i handt bought a new game in ages so really no need, and those worked flawlessly for me on my system, so it might be possible another driver than 362 works for you

my 2. concern which is also the most troublesome, is, that the article did mention for some reverting drivers wasnt enough, like it simply affected teh GPU directly and the issue would just be transferred across systems, OS, drivers,
that was teh most worrying part for me, back when i read the article, because if that is actually true for some reason, that means if we used those drivers, adn had issues, that our card is permanently borked.. not bricked, just borked.. which to me is sorta worse.. since its bloody hard to RMA the card then, unlike if it was bricked..

if you are up for it you could try a clean windows install, with either teh 362 driver or an even older one like 359/359.06 or the 361versions

either way i hope i turns out to be something minor, simple and most importantly fixable
best of luck

@ Gnuffi
Two months before the article I posted above, the same author wrote that there was no chance of damage to the card itself: http://wccftech.com/nvidia-users-beware-latest-drivers-damage-pc/
But his later post seems to contradict that. So now I'm unsure if the card itself is damaged in some way.

However, it seems that the problem seems more towards the OS. I'm going to roll back to the driver you are using and see how that goes. As a last resort, I'll try a fresh OS install.

On the other hand, it may not be the Nvidia drive giving me the BSOD afterall. Hard to determine. How do I read the windows/mini dump file? I keep getting a 'access denied' message and it won't open. I'm logged on as admin and the file is read-allowed.

eh, could be one of those weird "im Admin but dont have"Ownership" over the file" situations i guess,
a thing i never did quite understand to be honest, since the times it did occur to me regarding other files no matter what i couldnt truly get the "ownership" to be allowed to whatever it was i was attempting in regard to said file in the situation
but i guess you could try checking out the Ownership, and see if that gives you access
you using any program to try and read the dmps?
like bluescreenview or such?

No, I hadn't gotten that far. Just wanted to see if I could find the dump and then tried to open it. I'll give Bluescreenview a shot next.

@ati radeon
I did not own any DX12 based games. Though i like stealth like games to be honest i don't like the episodic approach of the new hitman. Maybe i will pick it once IO Interactive really done with it. Plus the result for DX12 is quite underwhelming so far.

I'm thinking the card (GT 640) is defective. I did a fresh install of Windows 7 64-bit, tried all the different drivers. Installed it into a different system and it wouldn't detect it. Ordered an ATI Radeon....gonna give that a try. Thanks for all the info!
