Hi. When I first built my pc I stupidly bought an fx-8350 because of the 8-cores, but I know realize my mistake. So I was wondering if I should spend more money on the i7-6700k or spend less for the i7-4790k. I know the prices for the cpus are similar, but when you factor in an LGA 1151 motherboard and DDR4 RAM the prices drasticly differ. I was wondering, is the extra price worth and will the 6700k be a better long term investment? Also, I would like to put in that I only do GAMING and no rendering or video editing.

The 1151 and 1150 motherboards seem to be priced very similarly. The only extra cost you will have is that for new RAM. DDR4 is the future and will mean your system will be more future proof. The higher frequency RAM offered from DDR4 can also improve performance in some titles slightly too.
