So I've been looking around for the answer of my original question which is 'can my PC run a GTX 970 with its Corsair Cx500m'. The specs of my PC are: I5 4460 + Cooler Master TX3 EVO + Asus GTX 960 + 8gb adata 1600MHz + Asus H81M-Plus + Corsair Cx500m. From my understanding, I 'should' be fine. But after some research I've discovered a few things, the final amount of power that will be consumed is close to 500W, another thing is the reliability of the PSU. I've seen that it has a reputation for being a bad power supply due to cheap components. Now I also know that this PSU has a 3 year warranty which suggests to me that corsair are confident that this PSU will stand the test of time. However I'm not sure and need to know if this PSU will live a full life from someone with experience with this PSU. I also need to know that if it fails, will it take out any other component's? And will Asus anti surge protection help to keep the components safe from harm.

This PC is kind of important to me and it's not something I want to put at risk.
