I'm wondering that if I could use a 4-pin on a 12v 8-pin power connecter. I have a Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P motherboard, FX-4350 cpu, MSI gaming 970, and an ULTRA LS 600w power supply.

The Ultra brand power supply is a very poor quality model and has no place at all in a gaming system. You need to upgrade it as soon as possible to a proper quality unit making your question meaningless since a proper power supply will have the right connectors. Your system can run with a good quality 500-550 watt unit.

Use this list as a guide and select something from tier 1 or 2 but no lower than tier 3-
