I'm having an issue with my brand new Gigabyte Z170X-GAMING 5.

The first time, I used a 1200W Antec power supply from my older workstation which I knew worked.
The motherboard would faintly let out a chirp, but nothing happened. there was no power at all except the PSU.

The second time I tried another 1000W Power Supply.
This time, it powered on and POSTed.
But once I plug in my R9 290x or R9 280x, the motherboard would do the same thing. It chrips faintly and powers off.

Could this be a Mobo issue? It seems like a premium product with good reviews.

The onboard video works just fine, it will boot up into a drive.

Solution
Double check that you connected the PCI 6 pins or 8 pins power connectors into the graphics card
Also check that the cards work in another PC just to make sure they are OK
Otherwise I can't think of any thing other than a motherboard issue
