Approximate Purchase Date: 2-3 weeks

Budget Range: 2k NZD roughly. (Im from New Zealand)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Running Unraid for NAS/App Server as well as up to 4 VM's.

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: All new. - This is my list i was thinking of using.... http://nz.pcpartpicker.com/p/8kJnsY

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: pbtech.co.nz or pcpartpicker.com

Location: New Zealand

Parts Preferences: Open to anything - Been a Intel man up until now.

Overclocking: Doubt it/

SLI or Crossfire: No.

Your Monitor Resolution: Probably will be running headless 90% of the time.

Additional Comments: A quiet pc would be nice but not essential.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: I would like a unraid PC to run all the media in my house as well as some testing of sorts in VM's.

An AMD FX is a bad CPU choice for a NAS. It is way too power hungry and requires a discrete graphics card. Get an Intel CPU and use the integrated GPU. If you want 4 DIMMs you should buy a matched set of 4 and not two sets of 2. If this is a NAS, you may want RED rather than BLACK disks.

I was just trying to balance the need for cores for VM vs power consumption, still bad?
