My CPU is heating up. I notice this because fans start making noise. I have sensors and have monitored them and this is what I am getting.

It heats up to 55c to 65c and then the computer gives warning at 65 Celsius.
- it happens when I open multiple windows using Chrome, maybe 2 or 3 windows start to increase the temp.
- video processing for sure

Nearly no increase temp when doing the below
- but burning a data DVD multiple times did not increase the temp at all it stayed at 39 celsius
- also downloading 150 Megbyte file only put it up to 42 Celsius

I built this computer about 1.5 years ago and this is a newer problem, not an original problem. I checked for dust. I did not check to make sure there was enough grease on heat sink, but this is newer so not sure that could be the problem.

Also when I look at the 'basic info about computer' it does not mention video card, but I do see it in the Device Manager. COuld this mean the video card is bad? I think the card is from my previous computer.

COMPUTER:
PROCESSOR: AMD FX-8320E Eight-Core Processor 3.20 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
SYSTEM: 64 bit, Win 7 Pro
VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GeForce GT 430
HARD DRIVES: SSD 256 GB, 2x 1 TB drives

3 fans, CPU, System (1 or 2) and on Power Source - Note I see the CPU fan getting up to 4600 RPM

Thank you for your help.

Shane

The warning can be ignored/turned off at 65 degrees...that is a bit of a joke. AMD chips get hot and anything under 80 is really nothing to worry about, even if the task sounds mundane.

If it was 65 idle it would be whole different kettle of fish

1. Am I missing something or does this post say "My CPU is heating up when I use it"??? If it does and the temp it "heats" up to is 65 Celsius then you are merely using your computer...Everything sounds totally normal to me here.

2. Visit nvidia.com and pick out the drivers in the "drivers" section for your card and install. It is important to keep these up to date, certainly from time to time. It will also instantly solve any detection issue in this case, I believe.

At DasHotShot - I will check drivers for video card and update. But as for it just gets hot with use, it gives me a warning when it reaches 65 Celsius, I looked and 65 is higher than I would like to be, I guess under alot of use, but when I open 3 or 4 more chrome pages, and it gets to 60+ Celsius. These pages are yahoo headlines, news pages.

It just went up to 59 C with 2 yahoo news pages open in Chrome and toms hardware page open, (1 of the yahoo pages had small video advert running a video.). I closed 2 other yahoo pages and now it has already gone down to 42 C.

Thanks for the help.

Hi DasHotShot and Hellfire13, I will change temp warning. I just never had problem with this computer and it did get me rattled. But under use it does go up and then goes down. So I think maybe it is more normal.

Thank you all and I will keep an eye on it.

Sorry I voted down, my bad, I thought this was to look at additional comments. I tried to vote up, but it does not let me do that. Anyway to change?
