Hello Everybody,
I am a gamer and i am looking for a good gaming PC. I have trouble selecting parts. I will tell you what i need:-
What will the PC be used for?
Gaming and editing the occasional video. Mostly gaming.

What type of games?
Games like Just Cause 3, Fallout 4, Hitman and GTA V. I plan on modding the games especially GTA V and JC 3. I hear this requires tons of VRAM?

More on the budget:-
I can spend up to 1300 dollars not, one nickel more. If you can get a good PC under 1200 i will be impressed.

What do I need?
I need the PC tower, Monitor and keyboard and mouse. I have no preference in keyboard but would like a backlit one. I do not need an OS, i already have a copy of Windows 8.1

Part Prefrences:-
I want an i7, Devil's Canyon or Skylake. Please manage to fit one in. I will be purchasing the PC sometime between the end of May or the middle of June so i will go for the Pascal 1070 or x70. Because we do not know the price I assume that it will cost as much as an R9 390 or GTX 970 give or take a 50 dollars. So please use one of those in the list instead. I want a good power supply made by a reputable company. Atleast 80+ Bronze. There is a chance I might SLI in the future.

Any Other Prefrences:-
I want a good looking case with a side window. I also want a clean-looking system, therefore, i want a good color theme. Also can i have all the links being Amazon or NewEgg links? I also want all the prices from these websites.

Thank you. I appreciate the effort you put into making this list.
Appreciate all help.

Do you intend to overclock?

EDIT: Are you dedicated to nvidia? Or are you going to see whats better in the next gen amd or nv? I'm asking because i really think you should get an adaptive sync monitor, and one needs to choose between gsync and freesync.

I might overclock, seriously considering it. So consider that a yes

. This PC was in planning since Maxwell's release, I can't wait till Polaris arrives to buy my PC. Also i like things like PhysX , DSR and MFAA. As much love as I have for both companies I have to go Team green this time. I will probably get a 34-inch ultra-wide Gsync Monitor at some point later on but as of now a 1080p or a 1440p Monitor is enough.

P.S:- Thank you for your speedy response.:)

PCPartPicker is of no use to me, as my relatives will be buying the parts and bringing it with them when they visit me in India. It would be extremely convenient for them to order from only Amazon or only Newegg. They hated PCPartPicker and found it incredibly tough to use :??:. I would have the parts but not the prices.

P.S:- Thank you for your speedy response.

This is already over budget, and it doesnt contain a PSU, case kb and mouse.

You could get a smaller ssd(not reccomended), 1tb hdd(yeah, why not, but..), get a cheapo monitor(HIGHLY not recommended), it would still get overbudget.
Its either an i5, no monitor, or no gpu.

Yeah he's right. You're not gonna get an I7 in that budget without some real compromises. I'd definitely go for I5. It will perform very well for gaming.

The real reason i am getting this PC is because I want to be able to do anything from ultra gaming to video editing. Developing games to modding. I do not want to be limited by my hardware, that is why i want an i7. I will try to make my own PCPartPicker list to show you guys the hardware. I will still be using the Amazon and Newegg prices so pay no attention to the prices on pcpartpicker. If somebody could tell me what the compromises and problems are I will change to an i5. Ok?

It looks wrong. You're gonna spend as much on a keyboard as on a monitor? Moreso, on a constrained budget you're gonna spend over 100 on a keyboard?
Also, why last generationa hardware?
Where's the ssd?

EDIT: not beeing coinstrained by hardware means you should not be constrained by budget. Well.. not this constrained. Liek this, you either go for i5 and gaming or i7 and the rest(meaning you will dile down on the graphics card aswell)

Respectfully, if he's planning to use a copy of Windows 8.1 that he already owns, isn't he going to need to go with Haswell? Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 are not going to be supported for long on Skylake processors or on many systems, are they?

If you get an I5, you lose hyperthreading. Hyperthreading will make your PC faster at video rendering. But not by alot. To me, not faster enough to justify the $100 price difference. Essentially, an I5 is an i7 with hyperthreading disabled permanently. Games will see nearly no benefit for the most part. Coding and writing programs would see little benefit. Video rendering and editing would see a decent benefit. But I've edited videos on my i5 and its pretty damn fast.

Why on earth would anybody in their right mind use windows 8.1 and not upgrade to 10?

Just saying, Microsoft designed windows to run on any x86 and x86-64 CPU. This includes 10. Not to mention haswell isnt even old. Plus not everyone likes windows 10. Mostly a preference anyway since performance and support are the same.

DX12? Just saying :)

Apologies, I'd forgotten about the free Windows 10 upgrades until June. So yeah, that 8.1 could be upgraded if the rig is ready to go before then (and if you don't object to Windows 10.)

I'll state up-front that this is not the machine I'd build myself given the same budget, and IMO, CoolUsername, you really should listen to the experts and go with the i5. Seriously. You would be happier and could get an all-around more balanced machine with better peripherals that would do everything you want for the same or less money. I have no doubt there's plenty to criticize in this build, so have at it, folks. But just to prove it can be done:

You are incorrect, sir. DX12 is windows 10 and up exclusive.

Actually. I apologize. I thought I remembered reading it supported win 8, which would've made sense. But I suppose its all part of Microsoft's plan to make everyone upgrade to 10. Even so DX12 games won't hit mainstream market for a while.

They're coming. Probably this christmas season will be the big bang. Until then, Deus Ex and tomb raider got patched full dx12.
Anyway, a non-gamer may argue hte pros and cons of getting on 10(though they would have a ttough time against me :) ), but, for a gamer, all past windows versions are dead and burried.

OP, this is what i would get if i were you. mouse,kb, case you can get locally.

Cheers!

WHHHAAAAAT! You made me spit coffee all over myself. I thought you could not get g sync without spending $500-$600 on a monitor. Is a 6600k and a good cooler affordable in my budget? I just thought spending more on your monitor than your CPU was stupid. Does this one support Nvidia's 3D, as i might go for those in the future. No problem if it doesn't. If i got an i5 6600k and a GTX x70 i could run any game for atleast a year or two right? Can I go for 16 GB of RAM if my budget allows?

P.S:- Sorry if i am being bothersome. Cheers!
