My desktop computer is stuck on "Failure configuring windows updates reverting changes do not turn off your computer"

I've been reading lots of fixes and solutions, but none of them seem to work. The first problem, when I'm stuck at the screen saying the above failure, I am not able to do anything.

Restarting my computer and pressing/tapping F# keys doesn't do a thing... F8 or F11 won't work..

There are no devices connected to the pc (no flash/USB/CD/DVD etc. only usb keyboard, mouse and headset) and I've been waiting for 5 hours now..

What to do?

try to start with "last known good configuration"
if that doesnt work...try safe mode
You can start System Restore from a command prompt window if you can't start your computer in any mode other than safe mode with command prompt. Start your computer in safe mode with command prompt.

My computer even on safe mode turns right back to Failure to configure blah blah.....so I can not do anything in safe mode either. Did get to do the system recovery options but there it also tells me I do not have a restore point?> I checked for hours (days) to find a solution! Is it that hard to fix this????? So frustrated right now! Tried it all!
F8, F11, take battery out, ctrl alt del (does not work), ran repair, tried to restore. Left computer on all day .....still stuck in failure, shot the computer down for hours, thought it might reset itself...etc etc...etc.....I do not have a window disk!
