Hi Guys --

Case: Enthoo Pro
Mobo: Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7
CPU: i7 6700K

Once I installed the CPU and the CM Hyper 212 EVO, there was a power cable coming off of the CM that I plugged into the "CPU Fan" marked area on the motherboard.

After progressing with the install, I came to the back of the case and its own wiring/cables. There is a cable coming from the back that says "To Motherboard CPU Fan". I believe this is the "PWM Hub".

Now, isn't this what I plugged in earlier? Where does this cable go? There are a number of other slots such as "SYS_Fan 2, or SYS_Fan 3". Is this what it is referring to? The PWM hub almost implies the cable originating from it should be the one that is plugged into "CPU Fan" that is located near the CPU / CM.

If that is the case, does my cable from the CM have to somehow get dragged all the way back to another SYS_Fan outlet?

Sorry for what appears to be a terrible explanation after I re-read it :|

Thank you!

You either plug you fans into the Hub, and the hub connectors into your motherboard (and the corresponding headers), or you plug your fans directly into the motherboard. Personally, I'd just go straight to the motherboard, unless it's an older model lacking functionality.

CPU_Fan is for your ...... CPU fan. You've attached the 2120EVO fan connector the the CPU_header, so you're good there.

A cable "coming from the back"? Where's it coming from exactly? I'm assuming it's from the rear fan? That will attach to any "SYS_Fan" header, doesn't have to be any specific header (just not the CPU_Fan header).

With a PWM Hub, you can connect all the hub connectors to motherboard headers & then connect your fans to the hub. Used to be great for control of fans but these days, unless you have a ridiculous number of fans, it's not really worthwhile. Most motherboards allow you to control the speed/noise of your fans.

Connect all your case fans to "SYS_Fan" headers (#1, #2, #3 etc), and your CPU cooler fan to the "CPU_Fan" header.

Hi Barty,

Thanks for your quick reply. The "coming from the back" reference was made to a cable coming directly from the PWM Hub. It had a sticker on it, indicating to plug it into the CPU Fan. However, based upon your answer my 212 EVO fan was connected correctly and as a result, this PWM Hub cable can be plugged into any of the SYS Fans. Am I correct in that understanding?
