So that's my case. I have plenty of options as far as fan placement and cooling goes. I have one 120 in the front, and one 120 in the rear. At some point in time I'm going to probably cutout the side panel and put in a window. Leaving 2 fan spots in the top of the case, i don't really want to make them both exhaust fans because that would get me negative pressure.

Here's the question. Would putting one intake and one exhaust that close together create a vortex and kill my cases cooling? Or do you think this case has good enough air flow (with the front being totally mesh) that it wouldn't make that big of a difference?

Solution
I would make them both low RPM exhaust and get an extremely high RPM fan for front intake.

If you're going for a silent machine, then get just two regular fans, put one as exhaust on the top and one as intake on the front.

I would not put one as intake and one as exhaust because that will cause said vortex.

front to back, bottom to top, never intake and exhaust right next/ontop of each other, so if you have 2 slots that close together you have 2 choice
either you make both the same direction (since its side intake would be best)
or you only use 1 slot, and since its teh side mount, if lower/at teh gpu= intake, if using mounting vent above teh gpu, exhaust, but never both at teh same time that close together

He can't use the fan mounts on the side because he's going to cut them out and put in a window. We're talking about the fan mounts on the top

sry read OP too fast, thought it was teh side vents that he wanted to mount

to OP, you dont have to use both for exhaust, you can just have 1 passive vent
i would recommend you reconsider your cutting the side panel and installing a window, or atleast install a window that allows for a fan mount pref right below teh GPU and use it for intake,,
and that way you could use the extra top exhaust as active exhaust while not getting negative pressure

This is not a bad idea, but I would recommend sending it to a professional to have this done, because mounting a fan to a side panel will introduce vibration, and if the side window is not perfectly seated and tight, then it will make a really annoying sound as it vibrates against the side panel. I would not recommend having a fan and window on the same panel if you are going to do the modification(s) yourself.

this is very true, window alone will add/exacerbate any vibrations already in your case and a "Non professionally" mounted window fan will just add on top of that
i do recommend the window/side fan still, for in take, placement at/below gpu(pref slightly below), but if you go for the window do like weberdarren97 says and get it done proper and right to not add noise

Gnuffi, I can't believe i forgot the face that i don't HAVE to mount 2 fans to the top. That's actually a really good idea. So I have a Corsair SP120 in the front. Do you think that will work well enough as an intake once an exhaust is added to the top? Or should i get one with higher air flow?

Darren, good point about the window with fan and vibration. I was planning on DIYing it myself, but adding an intake would be a great idea. A project i am not very equipped for.

Next question i guess i should ask is what kind of place would i take it to to do the mod? I don't think I've seen any "mod shops" in my area, and a quick google search didn't turn anything up.

high airflow (CFM) for intake = must
this is how i would set yours up:
2fan system:
front intake, back exhaust(not top leave that passive)
and a cpu cooler with air direction towards teh back, not up, so not getting negative pressure
3fan setup.
front intake, back exhaust. bottom side vent intake, and cpu cooler air direction upwards to teh passive vent
4fan setup
front+bottom side intake, back+topback exhaust, cpu cooler directer towards teh back as to not suck hot gpu air in from below

adding a top side panel fan would be almost pointless since the chance your cpu would ever need it is small and wouldnt get much cooling since there is 2 exhausts on opposite sides

alot of shops that do custom builds will/can do such a mod
i live in a small country, and certain shops do "personalized" builds, i.e you pick parts from their lists then they assemble, but some of them ar willing to do extra work, like setting up custom water cooling and sound modding and such, window panels fall in that category,, vary from build place to build place what they are willing/capable to do
