Integrated Graphics support on the motherboard?

I'm planning to get a graphics card after I build my PC so I can look for better deals or wait for Pascal. So I was planning to use the integrated graphics in the meanwhile. However, there are motherboard saying they don't support integrated graphics (like Intel HD Graphics) yet they have I/O ports like DVI and HDMI.

For example, on this motherboard:

(The part is further down the page)

So what is the point of those connections and more importantly, how do I find a motherboard that supports the integrated graphics like HD Graphics 530?

Any answers will be appreciated. Thanks.

That's really odd. If they have ports, then it supports integrated graphics. What they might mean is from a legacy point of view similar to what integrated graphics USED to be - as in - on the motherboard itself.

In previous iterations of integrated graphics, the integrated GPU was on the motherboard chipset similar to what the AMD AM3+/3/2+/2 and older Intel setups (I believe LGA775?). The iGPU was on the motherboard, not the CPU.

Currently, the iGPUs are now on the CPUs (as in the APU's of AMD and all the Core i3/5/7 etc). So - technically(!!) they are right in that the motherboard has NO iGPU, you have to provide a CPU with a iGPU, and if you pick one like a Xeon or a AMD FX with no iGPU, and you don't have a dGPU, you have NO GPU.

If you however put in a core i5-6600k, it has a iGPU, so it would work and you could use the video connections on the motherboard.

The two CPU's I'm thinking about getting are the i5 4590 and the i5 6500 or 6600 (i know they're different sockets, I've got plans on what to with each option). I'm a noob so be patient with me please :)

What you guys are saying is that I can run the integrated graphics off my CPU on those motherboards, its just that the motherboard itself doesn't have graphics. Right?

I'm sorry that this is not related to this topic but its been on my mind and this seems easier than making another whole topic. But what do you think the disadvantages are if you put an ITX motherboard in an ATX case?

If the atx case supports mini itx mobos, I don't think there's any disadvantage per se. However, mini-itx boards seem to be more expensive and/or have less features, so it's not really a good idea to get one if you're not taking advantage of the small size.
