I have a 6 year old Asus A55A. Intel Core i5 - 3210M, 2.5GHz. 6GB RAM. 750 HDD. Came with Win 8 (upgraded it to 8.1).
It has served me wonderfully for 5 years. Only very recently it has started to give up on me. and getting worse each day. Videos stutter often (I uninstalled VLC and installed SM player because I read somewhere its lightweight). Painting in PS (CS6) has become a pain (I use a Wacom Intuos 5). The cursor has a considerable lag and the Intuos driver is crashing very frequently too. I am dreading to open Zbrush or Modo now. I have managed to keep my drives fairly empty thanks to multiple externals (barring C). 90% of my C drive is full. I don't save anything there apart from software and applications and use disk clean-up and a registry-cleaner very frequently.
Is it time to move on to another laptop? Someone suggested that I replace my HDD with an SSD and upgrade my RAM. I wish to get a better opinion. What can I do? thanks.
