I am thinking of building pc(first time) which I intend to use without any huge upgrade for ateast three years.so I made this config

cpu-Intel Core i5-6500
ram-G.Skill Ripjaws V 8GB 2400Mhz
mobo=ASUS B150 PRO GAMING/AURA
HDD-toshiba 1 tb
psu=corsair rm 650
cooler hyper 212 x
case=NZXT s340 Black / Red
monitor=ASUS VX279H
GPU-GIGABYTE GTX 980 WINDFORCE 3X SOC or xtreme gaming

It's perfectly in my budget.But someone advice me to go for this config

cpu-Intel Core i5-6402p
GPU-Gigabyte 980 ti xtreme gaming
HDD-toshiba 1 tb
mobo=gigabyte g1 sniper b7
case=NZXT s340 Black / Red
monitor=samsung curved LS24E510C
ram-G.Skill Ripjaws V 8GB 2400Mhz
psu=Corsaie rm 650w

It's a little out of my budget but I can go for it.But the thing I don't like about the second configuration is it doesn't have a 27 inch monitor.And I am wondering if the motherboard is good enough for 980 ti.

So my question is which one should i go for?
which one will be more future proof and perform better?
Which one would you guys go for?

Solution
All things considered, I think you'll find the most satisfaction, longevity and happiness with build 1

Though build 2 has a better GPU, it makes no sense at all having a 980Ti hooked up to a 1080p screen.

Can you share details about the monitor you plan to get please?

Unless it's a 1440p screen, neither config is good value for money and the balance is just off. If you share your budget and country you are buying in, it will be easier for users to help you.

No PC with an i5 and a 980 or better GPU lacks an SSD these days, it's sort of a basic component that you should be putting in there...and many more other little things. Please provide above info and let us help.

So 1080p @ 75Hz...

Anything over a 970 is overkill...therefore neither of your builds makes any sense.

So many new builders want to just buy whatever is "the best" most expensive piece of equipment when in most cases on this forum, they will hook it up to a bog standard HD display. Really just a gigantic waste of money.

What country are you buying in and what is your budget for the PC and monitor? I can provide a much better value for money "bundle" for your consideration.

I live in Bangladesh and my budget is around 1300 USD with the monitor 1500 USD actually but the price in my country is really high.

I disagree about a 980 or ti being overkill for 1080p anymore especially if you expect 2-3 years with no further upgrades.
The 970 is just about still cutting it at 1080p high settings now , a year ago it would do ultra on just about anything.

At the minute its just a bad time to buy a GPU period with the imminent release of pascal & Polaris towards the year end.
I'd be tempted by a 390x over a 980 personally , the 980 is just at the wrong price point unless you get a really really good deal.

Consider the asrock k4 hyper as a board , even though you're not interested in overclocking at the minute you may be in the future & the k4 hyper has a split level base clock meaning it can overclock even locked CPU's.
Its also a very good board in its own right.

^ they sort of did so asrock released 2 boards that have a pair of separate base clock dividers - 1 covers ram/PCI express/South bridge - the other is solely for the CPU base clock.

It still means blck rather than multiplier overclocking but as its isolated from the rest of the system there aren't really any limits apart from CPU binning itself.
4ghz absolutely doable on a 6500 (maybe on a 6400 even but not guaranteed)
